Vintage 8-arm chandelier in wood and bronze

A vintage eight-arm chandelier built around a turned wood central column, with gold-toned metal arms scrolled into volutes and dressed with acanthus leaves. Each arm ends in a turned wooden cup in the same timber as the central body — the detail that ties the two materials together and gives the piece a warmth that all-metal chandeliers never have. The sleeves imitate candles, so the bulbs stay discreet and the light falls softly. It suits a dining table or a living room with a high ceiling, where its diameter has room to breathe. In style it sits close to twentieth-century French work drawing on the Louis XV period, with that combination of wood and bronze typical of manor interiors.
